Seven months before Lucy had escaped from the facility she was held captive in one diclonius nammed Ryu whose mind was shattered and lost started to work for the people as an assassin to get to all the diclonius whom they werent able to get to when they were young. Even though Kurama had promised him that he would help him get his memory back he started to recover without their help and started to question why he was working for them and started to frequently visit Lucy's cell and speak with her for hours at a time. When he was sent on his last mission he was betrayed by the poeple and sent several of their own trained diclonius against him in an attempt to dispose of him before he decided to fight back. The fight took several long hours due to the fact that he didnt know how to use his vectors before he had finally killed them all, badly wounded he sat on the edge of the building and gazed at the sun rise in wonder of its pure beauty before he heard the sound of pannicked foot steps coming up to the roof. As Ryu turned to see who it was a young woman came running out onto the roof, tripped on one of the grisly murdered bodies, and slid on the bloody floor until she hit one corpse that stopped her. Then a squad of SAT soldiers came running out unphased by whats around them and pointed their rifles at the gril ready to kill. "Say goodbye bitch" said what was apparently the leader of the squad as he was about to tell his men to fire. "Hold it!!!!" said Ryu "Why pick on someone who cant fight back? rather unsporty dont you think? At least try someone who you know can put up a fight like me" continued Ryu. "If what your saying is you wanna take her place on the kill list then be our guest, men take out this smug bastard" said the squad captain "Sir, Yes Sir" replied the soldiers as they readied their weapons on him though they were quickly cut down before they even knew what hit them only the captain managed to stay alive to ask the diclonius one thing: "What are you?!" after that the captain died before Ryu could even answer him. "Sorry but i dont even know" said Ryu as he paid his final respects to the soldiers before he turned his attention towards the girl but her top was rather torn up so he handed her his jacket to her so she could put it over her revealed chest. As she finshed putting it on Ryu asked her what her name was. "Sakura, Sakura Shinsen is my name" replied the girl but shortly after Ryu asked her to right it down for him so he could remember after telling her his memory is badly fractured. Later he took the girl to his house although it looked rather small on the outside it was actually rather large on the inside Ryu told Sakura that the outside is too discourage the curious after that he told her that she could stay as long as she wanted in thanks for his generosity Sakura kissed Ryu on the cheeck which unintentionally brought back some of his memory mainly of his love life with a girl who had the same name as her.
