A: "Elfen lied" is german for "elf song".
Q: How many episodes does the anime have?
A: The anime is 13 episodes long. But there could possibly be a sequel OVA.
Q: How many volumes does the manga have?
A: Currently 8 but it is not finished yet.
Q: What kind of anime is Elfenlied?
A: That is a difficult question to answer. Imagine a crossover of Love Hina, Berserk and Hellsing and something that turns out to be actually good. The show contains a lot of gore and is very violent. But it also has its funny or romantic parts. It cannot simply be categorized as "comedy" or something like that.
Q: Why do Lucy and Nana have horns?
A: They are not human. They belong to a species called "diclonius". They look like humans with small horns, which give them special powers. See the next question.
Q: What are vectors?
A: That is the special power of Nana and Lucy. They have four additional invisible "arms", which have a power similar to telekinesis.
Q: Do the manga and the anime have the same story?
A: Until episode 8 of the anime the stories are very alike. Even though the anime misses one main character and some violent and vulgar scenes. But starting with episode 9 the story of the manga and the anime turn into different directions.
